Full-grain leather upper. Flower design is hand tooled in a meticulous time consuming process. Smooth leather lined. Leather outsoles and heel. Tip of the heel has added rubber for slip-resistance. Old Gringo(R) boots go through a 130 step handmade production process. Old Gringo(R) also develops and tans its own leathers and textures to make sure the end result is a superior quality product.
HISTORY OF OLD GRINGO BOOTS & SHOES
Old Gringo was founded in 2000 by Yan Ferry and Ernie Tarut. They decided to combine Yan’s bootmaking and design skills with Ernie’s 30 years of experience in leather manufacturing to create boots of superior style and quality. This endeavor was named OLD GRINGO.
OLD GRINGO opened its first factory in the fall of 2000, and the first collection of original, vintage and retro styles was available within six months. The boots were well received in the market by traditional western outlets, as well as fashion boutiques, catalogs and shoe stores. The styles bridged the divide between western style and pure fashion.
After two years of ever-increasing demand, Old Gringo factory built a larger factory in Leon, GTO Mexico from which it continues to produce its collection of fashion-forward western wear.
Since 2000, Old Gringo has been focused on a single goal: creating western wear that combines the best materials with the skills of exceptional craftsmen. Beautiful designs and comfort are not accidents. It’s the result of applying a contemporary flair for fashion to a time-honored handcrafted art.
OLD GRINGO'S 110-STEP PRODUCTION & QUALITY PROCESS
One hundred-ten individual steps, performed by skilled craftsmen, are the foundation for the company's products. To meet the rigorous demands of its designs, Old Gringo produces and tans its own leathers in colors, textures and finishes developed by Yan Ferry. After carefully selecting the finest grade of leathers, the leathers undergo a meticulous tanning process. Each of the next steps, including cutting the upper materials, pre-fitting shafts and vamps, fancy stitch design, assembling the insoles, outsoles, last and uppers, the hand-driven lemon pegs and meticulous finishing, are considered critical in the construction of the perfect boot. Every step in the process requires craftsmanship.

In 2005, Ernie Tarut sold his interest in the factory to Yan Ferry to devote his complete attention to the success and development of the Old Gringo brand in the US and international markets. Yan and Ernie are still partners in the US wholesale operations with plans for future development of new products for their exclusive market.

These cute mules are the cat's meow! Very hot & sexy with a great deal of comfort. Nothing like a slip on shoe with a padded foot to keep your feet feeling soothed and relaxed for a night on the town. Any guy that see's you wearing this pair of animal haired shoes with a 1 1/2" heel will surely want you to rub behind his ears and/or belly.
These adorable mule shoes are great for the perfect spring day, but why wait for April to buy these pretty silk shoes with a durable leather sole when you can have them now to strut around in at home while pretending it's 70 degrees and sunny. Wear them to your holiday party because I know you're looking to get rid of those boring office shoes...by the end of the night you may be taking home more that that crappy present you got from the company yankee swap.

Right off the mark, I can tell you these have comfort written all over them. You get the height from these slip on platform shoes without having the thin high heels that would make anyone feel like they're going to fall right on over.
So go ahead...slip them on, put on those favorite rugged jeans with that low cut sexy shirt and go to that neighborhood bar where you'll throw some back, pick up a couple of hot men, bring one (or maybe two) back to your place where those slip on shoes will come off as easy as they were to put on.
Ok, all that is missing from these blood red shoes are the sparkles like the ones that Dorothy wore in the Wizard of Oz. They may actually be leather with a suede toe, but these puppies would be pushed under my bed collecting dust bunnies with all my other less desirable shoes. You may find that old lady that never comes out of her house wearing them or the lunch lady serving the first graders down the street, but as I mentioned before these less then desirable shoes should stay in Oz and be worn by that gay cowardly lion.
The following review was done before the Tappet by Vicini shoes became so difficult to find (and when we had the brand incorrectly labeled as "Tappeet by Vinci"). The shoe that is reviewed below is no longer available.

Never again will you sacrifice look for conventionality during the winter season. The chunky heel and slip-resistant sole provides extra support. Best of all, the cap square toe and elongated heel makes the foot look sleek and petite. Not to mention the bow is just enough detail and makes wearing the Tapeet absolutely adorable with a pencil skirt.
