For any of you who have toads in your garden that you have come to love, here are 2 nice toad-pads for your loved ones...
Just found this painting of a common toad by Rachelle Siegrist...
Rachelle also has a very cute painting of a frog on a peony called Peony Peeper...
Just found this forum post on Ask Andy About Clothes, a cool website that "is devoted to men's clothes -- what to wear, how to properly wear it,and the history of why we wear what we do.
But, it appears that Andy is not a fan of square-toed shoes: "[Andy went into a store and] stopped in and spoke to Reggie, who wasn’t in such a great mood! I don’t blame him with all those ugly sweaters and square toed shoes to sell. Poor
guy."

Here's an Ode originally posted on Squaretoad on October 12, 2005 by Maria Tabor...
La Rana (The Toad)
I
sit on a boulder in the Trinity River and make peace with my fear of
the bear. I will leave it here with the tadpoles around my ankles,
speckled stones, tall grass and the toad's eyes just above the surface.
I will try to sit in stillness like that toad and watch water rush over
fallen firs,
duck my head to avoid a swallowtail flying into me. One eye is on a
garter snake swimming S's and the other on a lizard beneath the
coolness of a redwood shadow.
There
are greater fears out there, a parent's death, a The river deafens all
sounds save the truth of rapids, the croak of a toad, the splash of a
foot.
Every time I scour the Web for square toe shoe information, stories, blogs, and products I come across stories about athletes who use square toe kicking shoes.
Examples:
A post on the football section of Victory Sports Network ... "The Falcons place kicker is good, but he has the
occassional miss. He comes straight on with a square toed shoe just like the old
days."
Recent article about historical NFL games on Sportsnet.ca recounting longest field goal during the New Orleans Detroit game on November 8, 1970... "Born without toes on his right foot, Dempsey was allowed to wear a heavy, square-toed kicking shoe."
So, it only makes sense to a square-toed kicking shoe for anyone out there looking to bust some balls...
Article in This is Wiltshire in the U.K. may help us save a few, innocent toads on their way home from work...
Excerpted from the article:
Julie Swabey, a district and county councillor who lives in Edington, is trying to form a toad conservation group and get road signs put up in the village.
Between February and early May large numbers of toads have to cross village roads as they make their way to a pond by the Priory Church.
Cllr Swabey said: "I'm a wildlife fanatic and something needs to be done to stop these toads being run over.
[we need people] who will volunteer to come out when it starts to drizzle or rain and pick the toads up and move them to the other side of the road so they can make their way to the pond.
"It would be really good if we could get some children involved because they are a very important part of the village, and also people from other areas would be welcome to come along if they wanted to help out."
"Unfortunately when a car comes along toads just freeze and that's how so many of them get killed," she said.
"Toads tend to come out after dusk which unfortunately coincides with the rush hour."
Just read this post by A.K. Siva on his/her blog called The Lighter Side of Life that sadly points out that there are toads that are dying from sex in the Dutch village of Montfort.
The source of the post is found at http://www.stunning-stuff.com/read-weird-news-stories/121.html?ci=s&st=2&pa=1&kw=toads (note, the story also uses the image I posted for Crazy Toad Sex).
The story notes that while this can happen from time to time, there is an exceptional rate of death-by-sex at this particular pond. There must be something special in that water! Just might go get me some.
Of course, I'm never happy when a toad brother or sister dies, even when they go out like this...
Just found this very cool picture/graphic of a "Toad Queen" on Worth 1000...
The artist is "ozplasmic", check out some other graphics by ozplasmic
Are any of these suitable mates?
I'm not quite sure if this boot has a square toe (in fact, I'm pretty sure it doesn't). But, finding a woman's boot called "Toad Nubuck" was an absolute delight for me! Just like when I found an artist who had a toad-related painting and a square-toed shoe painting, it was like the universe was coming together in a magical way.
Here are some highlights from the online description at Shoebuy.com:
Wow! I'm not sure I need to say anything else about these bad-boyz.
But I will.
Imagine it's a cool Spring day. You deck yourself out in leather. Next you strap on these kick-ass, black leather, flame-detailed, square-toe boots. You hop on your Harley and boom out that signature muffler roar. You join your posse and go for a thrill ride.
I'm not sure why any man would not want a pair of these in his arsenal. Unless you don't want to be mistaken for Ghost Rider.

Cruising through the web, searching for toad stuff, I googled "painting of a toad". It never occurred to me that I woulde EVER find someone out there who had artistic talent and had (completely unsolicited) created works of art related to both toads and square toed shoes. But, check out these two pieces both by a mysterious person known as "hendrix":
Please, hendrix, come forth and claim your rightful place with the SquareToads...
I have to say that this J. Renee

There was a really cool game for Nintendo in the early 90's called Battletoads
There is a petition out there to get the game back for Microsoft XBox 360, Nintendo DS, and/or Nintendo Game Boy Advance.
It would be cool if you signed the petition.
Here is the basic storyline of the game:
After her defeat by the Galactic Corporation at the battle of Canis Major, the Dark Queen and her renegade space troops retreat to the outer reaches of the universe, hiding out in dark spaces
between the stars.
Meanwhile, on board the spaceship Vulture, Professor T. Bird and the Battletoads - Rash, Zitz and Pimple - are escorting the Princess Angelica back to her home planet, where her father, the Terran Emperor, awaits her safe arrival.
Along the way, Pimple, the biggest Battletoad, takes Angelica out for a cruise in the Toadster to a nearby Leisure Station.
Pimple and Angelica burn space, but the Dark Queen ambushes them before they can get there. Luckily, Pimple manages to send out a distress signal before the Toadster is gobbled up and carried away to Ragnarok's World, the Dark Queen's planet...
So, there's the situation, 'toad: the Dark Queen's kidnapped the Princess Angelica and your best buddy Pimple - what're ya gonna do about it?!
You're gonna get real MAD, that's what you're gonna do - and then you're gonna get EVEN!
There was even a short-lived comic book for awhile…
Here is the SquareToad shoe of the day for men... OK. So it's not really a specially-selected shoe just for today. It's just a random rotation of men's shoes with square toes that I found and have set to change when you refresh the page. But, I do add new shoes here that I like pretty often, so come on back ya'll and see us sometime!
Or search Google for that perfect square-toed shoe...
My little review of Mark Nason Acoustic (Men's), Olive
These stylish, all-leather, men's slip-ons can be worn with either a formal or casual look. Best of all, because they ARE expensive, the ladies will know they're expensive. And that can't hurt in making a good first impression. Agree?
The stage is set. The classic battle. A game of strategy. It's a misty morning on the pond. The combatents are ready. The debate will be settled once and for all in this game of Toads Vs. Frogs Checkers!
(sure, toads are really a kind of frog, but we're aiming to show all those classic, snooty frogs that the time for toad independence is here)
Try looking for more Toad Games on Google (and let us know if you find a cool one)...
Just found this old Time Magazine article from 1963 called "Square-Toe Debacle". Seems that one of Britain's premier shoe companies in the 60's suffered from the age-old fashion problem of balancing trends with production capacity.
Whatever.
A square to is a well-dressed toe, and no square toe caused any debacle.
Period.
Even though our beloved square toe shoes are bound to go out of fashion sometime soon (and many would argue they already are), they'll be back again, and again, and again, and again... after all there are only so many toe styles that can possibly be created, right?
Just found a string of posts on Yahoo Answers for the following toad-related question:
One funny typo in an answer there...
"they feed on any incest they find so dont worry"
I'll dig up some more in-depth toad feeding info later (Just started a toad links typelist on the blog today - check out left, bottom margin)
